ST Classification Question

ASN Canada FIA, after reading the rules outlined on their site.  It lists only T1 and T2 classes, which restricts modifications of the vehicle to a max of 2.0 forced induction and rim widths of 8" and tire sizes of no greater than 245 width.

Are there plans of allowing an aftermarket forced induction AWD car running 255 wide tires on 17X8.5 possibly 17x9" rims. In Ontario we created an STU class as a catch all for cars with street tires greater than 140, but do not fit within the T1 and T2 rules limitation.  I believe it would be something like SM2 for the SCCA classes (I maybe mistaken).

Just for clarity the car is a 2000 Legacy GT:
Hot bits coil over suspension
Internal engine mods
Aftermarket custom turbo
Standalone ECU
17X8.5" Rims
Toyo R1R 255-40-17

Thanks for your assistance

Re: ST Classification Question

Hi Joe,

SCCA STU rules limit tires width to 245 for AWD and only factory turbocharged vehicles are allowed. Under SCCA, this car sounds like an SM car. DM or DSP under CAC rules depending on points taken of course.

We will be offering the full range of SCCA ST classes as supplementary classes, and possibly others if the demand is there. The goal of this event is to attract as many competitors as possible and have some great competition. Having said that, we do not want to create a bunch of one-car supplementary classes.

email me should you need more info

info at cac2010.org

Thanks

Jean Sirota

Re: ST Classification Question

Hi Jean,

The deadline for early registrations is approaching, when will you know if the SM classes will be added or if I read it incorrectly please let me know.  I agree with you that it's not good to create a 1 entry class.

Re: ST Classification Question

Sent an email, but haven't heard back and I still appear as being in BSP. Hope everything is OK.

Also, I'm on Hankooks. When I registered, that wasn't an option in the list so I chose Kumho.

Hi,

Wow I must of missed your email. No problem to change class/tires etc. at sign-in.

Sorry about that and thanks.
