2010 CAC

I've created a very quick POI (point of interest) for the 2010 CAC: http://www.poifriend.com/poigroup.php?poigroup_id=30203

Please help make it more relevant to the event by adding suggestions (details below).

Currently, it only includes the track and Perry Auto. So please make suggestions as to what else should be in it. See details at the bottom of this post.

It was designed for people to use on their GPS devices and give them easy access to things. Especially for those from other areas. It can be downloaded to a Garmin, TomTom, Magellan, etc.

I think that a good idea would be to include not just the close gas stations and auto parts and service shops but also close by accommodations, banking machines, and more importantly - all the event sponsors in some manner.

Changes/Additions can be done in one of two ways:
1 - directly in the POI URL above (much preferred and very easy - see below)
2 - Sending the info to me

To suggest an addition of correction to the POI, simply:
1 - go to the URL above and login (create an account if you don't already have one)
2 - click on "Tools + corrections"
3 - click on "Suggest a missing POI"
4 - fill in the fields
5 - I'll review and complete

I would appreciate it if folks in the area of the POIs could double-check the coordinates. They can sometimes be off slightly. The editing/suggestion tool in POIFriend is very easy to use and it allows you to either enter the physical civic address or the GPS coordinates in the appropriate fields. Once that is done, you can click the Get Coordinates icon and you'll see a Google map of the area with the option of viewing it in Map / Satellite / Hybrid views. Sometimes the "Place Marker" is off slightly from what the actual location is. This is easily corrected by dragging the place marker to it's proper location. POIFriend automatically adjusts the coordinates to that location. I did this for the Autodrome as it marks the entry road and I pulled the marker down to where the track starts.

I know that the location for Perry Auto isn't accurate as it points to the address on the road instead of the shop's actual entry. Carl or someone else car likely provide more precise coordinates. If the map in POIFriend isn't detailed enough than using the full-blown Google Maps and street view can usually get it.
